Anne G. Platts, 91; Secretary and Homemaker
Anne Elizabeth Gregory Platts, 91, a longtime resident of Nutley, on Feb. 22, 2007, at Heath Village, an assisted living residence in Hackettstown.
Mrs. Platts was born in New York City and attended parochial schools there. She lived in Hollywood as a mother's helper in the early 1930s before returning to New York as a secretary in the shipping division of Alcoa. Following her marriage in 1944, she was a homemaker residing at the United States Maritime Service Training Station in Sheepshead Bay, New York.
She moved with her family to Nutley in 1954 and raised two children on Erie Place. She held secretarial positions at the George T. Bowes and Lillian M. Gillies real estate agencies, and in the law office of John J. Gillies.
As a summer resident of Highland Lakes, NJ, she became involved with organized swimming programs which later included activities at the Montclair YMCA. She was also an avid bridge player.
Her husband of 57 years, Thayer "Ted" Platts, died in 2001. Survivors include a son, Howard Gregory Platts and his wife Liz of Bethesda, Maryland; a daughter, Lauraine P. Gazdalski and her husband Al of Wharton; four grandchildren, James Platts of Berkeley, California; Christopher Platts of London; Sarah DalFol and her husband Alex of Rockaway; and Laurie Genna and her husband Mike of Nutley, She is also survived by two great-granddaughters, Sophia and Serena Genna, and a niece, Romaine Gregory Manfredi of Sarasota, Florida.
